PUPILS ENTERTAINED
Port Chalmers School It is an astonishing sight to see school boys refuse ice cream, salads, cakes and " fizz,” but so lavish was the provision made by the Port Chalmers Home and School’ Association for the entertainment of the pupils of Form II that it actually happened. On Wednesday evening, when the art room at the school became a banquet hall for the occasion. The president of the Home and School Association expressed the hope that the pupils would keep contact with their school, which had produced many men who had done well in life. The chairman of the School Committee. Mr A. McCormack, urged the pupils to be proud of their school and to help it in years to come. Mr G. S. Gillespie, in an address to the pupils, said that the school would' be judged by their achievements and behaviour at secondary schools and at work. Some people were anxious to earn all they could and were willing to work hard for it, but some wanted all they could get without working. If they allowed themselves to be influenced by the latter then they would be lowering their standards. He appealed to them to set their own standards.
