SPECULATION AROUSED
Disaffection In British Labour Party
Resident Correspondent LONDON. Dec 2 Much interest is centred today on the split in the Labour Party over Mr Bevin’s conduct of foreign policy. A Left Wing group which advocates con-
ciliatory talks with Russia and is highly critical of General MacArthur, has long been known to exist, but trns week matters have come to a head with nearly 100 members tabling a motion that in point of fact amounts to non-confidence in Mr Bevin. Further unease has been demonstrated by/ the action of back-bench Labour MP's in objecting to the despatch of Centurion tanks (already paid for) to Egypt Finallv, there is the storm over Mr Bevins indiscreet remarks to tour American journalists regarding the need for disarmament. All these de-
velopments are causing intense speculation in the lobbies, and especially in the newspapers. The resignation of ailing Mr Bevin may well be imminent.
ADVERTISING Is accepted as a necessary part of mod’rn business promotion, it na; won a place lor itself in virtually every industry. Rightly directed and prepared advertising has proved that it can return a profit to the advertiser. But advertising should always be considered as a business enterprise, and not as a magic formula for unearned success.
