DESTRUCTIVE FIRE

Cotton Bales Burned In Sydney SYDNEY, Dec. 7. Early today fire destroyed 3000 bales of cotton valued at £ 120,000 at the Sydney Show Ground. The cotton was stored with some rubber in open sheds in steer yards, much of it being part of that salvaged from the Glebe Island store destroyed by fire last September. Firemen believe that the cause of the fire was spontaneous combustion, due to the hot weather. The Glebe Island fire, which resulted in the destruction of cotton valued at £125,000, was brought about similarly. ■
