WHARF DAMAGED BY STEAMER

PA NEW PLYMOUTH, Dec. 7. The top right-hand corner of Moturoa wharf at New Plymouth was badly smashed this morning when it was struck by the 1793-ton coastal steamer Waipahi as she was moving in to berth. Several piles were knocked out. of place, two were openly splintered and broken, and all the adjacent decking and beams were either splintered or pushed out of position. The Waipahi was not damaged.
