VAD Choir Sings Carols To Hospital Patients

The Red Cross VAD Choir, conducted by Mr G. E. Wilkinson, with Miss Mary Frazer at the piano, recently sang carols at Ross Home, Wakari Hospital, and Montecillo Soldiers’ Home, and later was entertained by Miss Ramsay at supper, when a presentation was made to Miss Frazer and flowers were given to Mrs Wilkinson. Miss G. Stewart thanked members of the auxiliary transport for conveying the choir members to the different institutions. On Wednesday members of the Rotary Club and the Red’Cross drove the carol singers to Orokonui Home, where they were introduced by Mr A. Steven, and where they received a very warm welcome from the staff and patients. Solos were sung by Mrs Brown and Miss Moore, and duets by the Misses Joan Meffen and May Stokes. Mrs Brown also led the community singing. Mr Wilkinson, on behalf of the choir, thanked the matron for her hospitality.
