DOMINION’S DUTY

Part In International Affairs PA WELLINGTON, Dec. 7. New Zealand, as much as the United’ States, should shoulder the responsibility of policing the world in the interests of democracy. This opinion was expressed in an interview by two American Senators, Messrs Theodore F. Green (Democrat) and Homer Ferguson (Republican). They said that when international politics reached the United Nations New Zealand had as much right to her opinion as the United States. Senator Green said he thought the United States would refuse to bear the whole responsibility in Korea, for she did not have the material or the men. Senator Ferguson said he did not consider that the United States had the forces necesary to police the world—without a joint effort the world would not be policed. “We do not want power politics, said Senator Ferguson. “We owe allegiance to law. We do not claim allegiance to force of arms, and, therefore, I do not think one nation should carry the burden in a common cause.” Replying to the question: How close are we to world war? ” Senator Ferguson said the only people able to answer that were in the Kremlin.
