WAIAREKA Special to tlhc Daily Times OAMARU, Mar. 29. Prices for the small yarding of fat cattle at to-day’ s Waiareka sale were firm to a shade better on late rates. There was a large yarding of fat sheep, with prices firm for best wethers and ewes, and slightly easier for medium and unfinished lines. There was a good demand for sheep showing quality in the store sheep section, prices being firm on late rates, while aged and unfinished lines were slightly easier. Quotations: — Fat Cattle. —Bullocks: Medium made) £l4 7s 6d to £l7 7s 6d; light, £ll 12s 6d' to £l2 17s 6d. A heifer made £l2 17s 6d. Cows: Medium made £lO 2 S 6d; cows and veaiers made £6 17s 6d to £9 7s 6d. A pen of two and a-half-year-old steers made £7 10s. Fat Sheep.—Wethers: Prime made 55s to 56s 9d; medium, 48s 3d to 51s 3d; light, 40s 9d to 435; aged, 34s 3d to 395. Ewes: Maiden ewes made 42s to 50s 3d, and young ewes made 34s to 37s 3d. Prime made 26s 3d to 33s 3d; medium, 21s to 23s 9d; freezing. 16s to 18s 6d. Fat lambs made 31s to 40s 9d. Store Sheep.—Best two-tooth ewes made 63s to 655; medium. 50s to 56s small, 48s to 525; mixed aged ewes, 28s to 33s 9d. Sound-mouth ewes: Best made 36s to 37s 3d: full and failing-mouthed ewes, 15s to 18s 7d. Romney ewe lambs: Best made 37s Gd to 40s 6d; medium, 33s to 365; small, 23s to 255. Wether lambs: Best made 33s to 34s 6d; medium, 25s 6d to 29s 3d. A pen of two-tooth wethers made 39s to 435.
