"MORE THAN A NUISANCE” DURING CONCERTS CR BARNES’S ASSERTION How disconcerting the clock chimes could be to both audience and artist during a concert in the Town Hall was emphasised by Cr Barnes at a meeting of the City Council last night. He asked the Finance Committee to reconsider stopping the chimes during concerts by overseas artists. Cr Barnes said he had found that the chimes could be stopped. They were more than just a mere nuisance, he said. Cr Barr replied that the question would be referred to the Finance Committee. He supported Cr Barnes in his opinion.
