FIJI'S ENVIABLE POSITION PA AUCKLAND. Dec. 17. One of the most peaceful parts of the British Empire in -its industrial life was how Mr C. S. de C. Reay described Fiji, where he is Commissioner of Labour, when he arrived with his wife and daughter on board the Ceramic. He said there were about 20,000 wage earners in the colony. The. Government was encouraging collective bargaining in industry, which had contributed to the harmdnious relations prevailing there. Mr Reay was confident that the trade of Fiji would continue to expand, and he predicted that the population would increase rapidly.
