NO DECISION

FUTURE OF INVERCARGILL AERODROME The question of a future aerodrome for Invercargill is still undecided. The Minister of Defence. Mr Jones, told a deputation from the Otago Air Development Committee yesterday that the present aerodrome was suitable only for Dominie aircraft. .The question was whether it should be developed further, or whether an alternative site should be found. Mr Jones said that a sum of £2OOO had been authorised for surveys at Invercargill, but instructions had been given that the surveyors should concentrate on the present aerodrome, as this would be the quicker course in making improvements for the future. No report on the survey had yet been received, but the soil testing was in hand. If the present aerodrome proved unsuitable for expansion, the Sandy Point site would be investigated to ascertain whether it would-be suitable . for larger planes than Dominies
