LYSANDER BEATS SILVER LINK Rec. 9 p.m. SYDNEY, Oct. 17. City Tattersall’s Cup at Randwick provided close racing and a photo finish It was won by the Melbourne Cup candidate Lysander, who came again after pearing to be beaten 50 yards from the post. Although he raced erratically in the early stages he would have been unlucky to lose. He has now won four races and is a proved stayer. Silver Link dropped out to last on settling down and moved up only after six furlongs. He was fifth at the ledger, but finished with a terrific burst to lose the decision by n stride. I The result was as follows: Lysander, 8.2 (Sellwood), 1; Silver Link. 9.0 (Ward) 2: Flying Duke, 7.10 (Stead), 3. Twelve started. A head, a length and a-quarter T ; me. 3min 221 sec.
