INDIAN FINANCE MINISTER RESIGNS

NEW DELHI, Aug. 16. The Indian Finance Minister, Sir Shanmukhan Chetty, has presented his resignation to Mr Nehru. It was reported on Saturday that Sir Shanmukhan Chetty told the Indian Parliament that but for India's war-time help to Britain, not only would England have been a dependency of Germany, but Mr Churchill would have been a captive in Berlin. “ I think,” he said, “ Hitler would have had enough sense of humour not to hang Mf Churchill, but would either have kept him in a museum, or, better still, made him his butler. We are all familiar with Mr Churchill’s language, especially with reference to India.”
