Aug. 7, 14, 21 Grand National meeting The annual meeting of the Racing Conference will be held in Wellington on July 16. Broie’s nine most recent races have produced three wins and five second placings. A. E. Dldham has nominated four of his team for the Grand National Hurdles —Batal, N:ght Fighter, Young Bob, and Foxchase. Inflation Gelding Find Out, the winner of the steeplechase at th* Hawke’s Bay meeting on Saturday, is an aged gelding by Inflation from Nautchgirl, by Provocation from Gauze, by The Officer from Film, a mare tracing back to Marsyas. He won the Park Hack Steeplechase at the Napier Park meeting last month. Promising Hurdler Vanity King has not had a great deal of experience over hurdles, but at the Dunedin meeting last month he showed promise by running fourth in the Otago Hurdle Handicap to Batal, Turf Topic and Desert Trek, and fourth in the June Hurdle Handicap to Young Bob, Sphere and Siegform. He has been nominated for the hurdle events at the National meeting. Lengthy Spell Shere Khan has not been raced since the Kurow Cup on January 3, when he ran unplaced. Prior to that he had been started seven times for two wins and a fourth. A four-year-old by Bulandshar from Kama, Shere Khan is due to reappear at the Grand National meeting. Robin Goodfellow Colt

Prior to Saturday The Rip had been started six times, and his only success was in the Manuao Trial at the Otaki meeting in October. A three-year-old colt by Robin Goodfellow, he was got from Deolali and he is owned and trained by W Hume, of Trentham. Trentham Place-getter

Carnegie, who finished third to Blank Cheque " and The Rip in the Woburn Hack Handicap at Trentham, was successful in his only previous start this season, the Trial Plate at the Napier Park meeting last month. He is a three-year-old bv Croupier from Lady Ronald, by Black’Ronald from Lady Elvina, by King Mark from Evelina, by Birkenhead from Miss Evelyn, a mare tracing back to Rosicrucian. Winner at Hastings Griffin, the winner of the Hurdle Handicap at the Hawke’s Bay meeting on Saturday, is an aged chestnut gelding by Lang Bian from La Poupee, who was got by Tea Tray from Dancing Doll, by Black Jester. His only other win this season was in the Greenmeadows Hack Hurdle Handicap at the Napier Park meeting in November, when, with 9.2, he was followed home by Ernbrae 9.12 and Makutu 9.6. After being off the scene since October, Duality made his reappearance on the first day of the Hawke’s Bay meeting last month. He started the outsider of the field in the Heretaunga Handicap and tailed off Earlier in the season he had had three wins over hurdles, the most recent of which was in the Glen Hurdle Handicap at Trentham in October, Vassilikos and Moutoa Lord being the placegetters. Winning Cheer has been raced 21 times this season for two wins and ten minor placings. At the Dunedin meeting last month he finished second to Triumphal in the Members’ Handicap, of seven furlongs, coming with a wellsustained late run. On the last day of the same meeting he followed Duvaals home in the Tainui Handicap, of seven furlongs, finishing with another late run. The Haughty Winner galloper has been nominated for the Winter Cup, and the distance will not trouble him.
