CITY COUNCIL APPOINTMENTS
Sir,—ln reply to the footnote to “Ratepayer’s ” letter concerning the appointment of an engineer, may I be permitted to ask Cr Ireland three questions through the medium of your columns . 1. Why was such a senior position not advertised throughout the press in New Zealand at least? . 2. Haw can 12 years’ experience—lncluding war. service—in engineering be accounted the equivalent of 23 years exthe council gave* their formal consent to the appointment, how many members were in full possession of the facts relative to the qualifications of the three applicants?—l am. etc..
