EARLY RETIREMENT
DR BENES OF CZECHOSLOVAKIA COMMUNIST NEWSPAPER’S RUMOUR N.Z.P.A. Special Correspondent. Rec. 8 pm. LONDON, June 7. The Communist organ, the Daily Worker, says that the Czech President, Dr Edouard Benes, who is a very sick man, may retire almost immediately and may be succeeded by the present Premier, Mr Klement Gottwald, If this change takes place, says the Daily Worker, the most probable successor to Mr Gottwald is Mr Zapotocky, chairman of the Czech Trades Union Congress.
