BOARD OF GOVERNORS The monthly meeting o£ the Board of Governors of the John McGlashan College was attended by Messrs A. C. Cameron, C. G. Gray, T. C. Ross, J. P. Cook, R. D. B. Paterson, N. R. Macalister, J. B. Benson, J. F. Ross, the Revs. J. J. Cairney and H. J. Ryburn, and Dr A. Borrle. In conveying the board's sympathy to Mr R. D. B. Paterson on the death of his father, the chairman referred to the great interest that Mr Paterson, sen., had taken in the college over a considerable 5 period of years. / Owing to the growth of the primary department of the college, it was considered advisable to appoint a new
master to commence duties at the be* ginning of the second term. The principal, Mr J. Conolly, reported that there was great enthusiasm among members of the Pipe Band, which was the largest in number in the history of the college. The expenditure of several hundred pounds for the building up of the library and school materials was authorised. It was decided to hold an Anzac service at the college on Friday, April 23. The principal reported that film strips obtained from the Dunedin Training College were being used for teaching purposes. A second swimming period per week had been arranged at the Municipal Baths. Two pupils of the college had been selected to represent Otago at swimming in the junior section against Southland, one, William Macalister, having succeeded in winning the 100 Yards Backstroke at Invercargill.
