CHAMPIONS TO MEET
Jackson Stakes at Wanganui GALAXY OF RECENT WINNERS After a lapse of 16 years the Jackson Stakes, of one mile, has been reinstated on the programme for the Wanganui Jockey Club’s meeting and it will be run next Saturday. No fewer than 34 horses have been nominated, including such class performers as Beau le Havre, Great Trek, Sleepy Fox, Majesty, and Howe, and even if only the horses mentioned went to the post the race would probably be one of the best of the season. Achilles had a good record in connection with the race, winning it three times in succession, and Gloaming had four victories, two of them m successive years. Emperador and Reremoana each won the race twice, and other stars of their day who have their names in the list of winners are Machine Gun, Tete-a-tete, Paganelli, Isolt, and Biplane.
