IMPORT LICENCES

RECENT AMENDMENTS Recent alterations to the import licensing schedule for the 1948 period have been received by the Dunedin Chamber of Commerce from the Comptroller of Customs, Wellington. They are:— Cot blanket's and blankets—Consideration will be given to applications from regular importers for licences to import cot blankets and blankets from Australia. provided that the applications are supported by definite evidence of availability for reasonably prompt shipment. Leather shoes—Consideration will be given to applications from established shoe importers for licences to import from British sterling sources during 1948 children’s utility type shoes of sizes 10-5, and women’s utility type shoes. Shelled peanuts—Licences for imports of shelled peanuts from British India during 1948 will be granted to the extent of 50 per cent, of the amounts of licences issued for imports of peanuts from the same source in 1945. Carpet underfelt —The allocation for imports of carpet underfelt during 1948 is "A, 100 per cent 1947.” Goods by air freight—Licences are not available for the importation of goods from dollar sources by air freight unless they are noted to Indicate that they have been issued specifically to cover goods to be imported by that means.
