THE WEATHER
RAIN PREDICTED The following official weather forecast, covering the ensuing 24 hours, was issued yesterday by the Meteorological Office in Wellington:— Situation. —An anti-cyclone is moving off New Zealand to the east, and there is a depression in the southwest Tasman. Forecast to 5 p.m. To-day.—Moder-ate or fresh north to north-east winds. Weather rather cloudy, with some rain in the west during the day. Temperatures mild or warm. Further Outlook.—Some rain spreading eastward during to-night or tomorrow. Weather in Dunedin.—The city experienced a warm, pleasant week-end, with sunny days tempered by light north-east winds. On Saturday the sun shone for nine hours, with the temperature ranging from 45.5 deg to 65deg. The grass minimum temperature was 35.3 deg and o.lßin of rain was recorded. Yesterday was slightly warmer, although the sunshine recorded registered only 7hr 54min The temperature range was from 47.1 deg to 68.1 deg, and the grass minimum was 41.2 deg. The barometer rose steadily on Saturday and remained high yesterday, the reading at midnight being 30.03 in (1017 millibars).
