BOY KILLED BY SHARK BROTHER SEVERELY MAULED Rec. 10.30 p.m. SYDNEY, Nov. 8. A shark killed one boy and mauled another as four brothers were swim- . ming in the Maria River at Port Macquarie yesterday. It attacked twice in a few seconds, slashing the leg of one boy and then severing the leg of another. Edwin James Elford, aged 12, died almost instantly, and Rupert Elford, aged 13, is still alive. Two elder brothers rushed to assist the victims, and dragged them both ashore. The brothers were swimming in front of their home. 12 miles from . the river mouth. Rupert was attacked first, and struggled towards the shore with the flesh stripped from his knee. Then Edwin was dragged from below the surface.
