MAURIELLO BATTERED IN NON-TITLE BOUT
Rec. 10.35 p.m. NEW YORK, Nov. 1. Before a crowd of 14,000 at Madison Square Garden, the world light-heavy-weight champion, Gus Lesnevich, defeated Tami Mauriello on a technical knock-out in the seventh round of a 10-round non-title bout. The referee stopped the fight after Mauriello—2llb heavier than Lesnevich—had taken six and a-half rounds of merciless punishment.
