CUSTOMS RETURNS

PORT OF OTAGO FIGURES FOR OCTOBER An increase of over £45,000 in Customs revenue in the Port of Otago for the month of October, compared with the corresponding peridd last year, was a major factor in an I 1 increase in the total receipts of about £47,000. Receipts from beer duty dropped by about £20,000, while that from sales tax increased by about £15,000. The following table lists the respective returns: —

AUCKLAND The revenue collected by the Customs Department, in Auckland in October amounted to' £1,336,761, an increase over the amount for October, 1946, of £455,932. The comparative returns are:— £ £
