THE WEATHER
MILD TEMPERATURES The following official weather forecast, covering the ensuing 24 hours, was issued yesterday by the Meteorological Office in Wellington:— Situation.—A deep depression lies over the South Tasman. Forecast to 5 p.m. To-day.—Mod-erate to fresh north-westerlies inland, •and moderate north-easterlies on the coast. Occasional rain in the western ranges, elsewhere fair. Temperatures moderate or mild. Further Outlook. —Cool, showery, ‘ south-west change likely. Weather in Dunedin. —Cold winds and showers of rain made the weather in Dunedin unpleasant on Saturday evening and yesterday morning, but there was an improvement later. There was a strong south-westerly wind, and .52in ot rain fell on Saturday, the maximum temperature being 53.4 degrees, the minimum 44.4 degrees, and the grass minimum 43 degrees. The wind veered to the northeast yesterday. The maximum temperature was 51.9 degrees, the mininmum 48 degrees and the grass minimum 41.3' degrees. / There were 36 minutes of sunshine on Saturday, and 2 hours -4 minutes yesterday. The barometer was low during the week-end, and at midnight yesterday it read 29.65 in (1004 millibars), and was rising slowly.
