Startling Claim By Russian Professor

N.Z.P.A. Special Correspondent Rec. 0.30 a.m. LONDON, Sept. 4. A Moscow message says that Protcssor A. Zvorykin, in an article in Pravda, denies that Edison, Morse and Marconi invented the incandescent electric bulb, radio and telegraph, and claims that all three of these inventions were originally made by Russians, but were stolen by “foreign beasts of prey.” The article blames Peter the Great for under-estimating the Russian mind and skill, and over-estimat-ing the abilities of foreigners. The article urges that this feeling of inferiority should be banished, because the Soviet people have “ now become the bulwark of world civilisation and progress.”
