DELAYED BY RUSSIA
REHABILITATION OF AXIS AMERICAN' ACTION URGED Rec. 10 p.m. NEW YORK, May 26. Russia was delaying the rehabilitation of Germany and Japan “as a means by which the United States can be bled white by relief measures. We should wait no longer. Russia will not make a war about it,” said the former President, Mr Herbert Hoover, to-day. Mr Hoover urged the United States to summon a peace conference with Japan, immediately,. and make peace with Japan by as many nations as wished to adhere. The United Slates should immediately carry out its present project of a centralised German
Government in the American and British zones, and if the next Foreign Ministers’ Conference was unproductive she “ might contemplate peace with this Government.” Mr Hoover expressed his views in a letter to Representative John Taber (Republican, New York), on methods of restoring Germart and Japanese economies. He said he favoured Congressional approved of the full 725,000,000 dollars requested as relief for Germany, Japan, and Korea in the next fiscal year.
