Mrs Duncan McKillop, of Commodore Flats, returned on Sunday from a visit to Christchurch. Mrs R. C. B. Greenslade, of Elm row, has returned from a visit to Karitane. Mrs F. M. Halsted, of Highgate, has returned from a visit to Karitane. Miss Joyce Thomas, of Wellington, will arrive in Dunedin to-morrow to be the guest of Mrs T. K. S. Sidey, of Tolcarne avenue. Mrs J. N. Greenland and her daughter, Miss Betty Buttle, left by car on Sunday on their return to Wellington. They were accompanied by Mrs V, Godfrey. Miss Vera Hayward, who was re-elected to the Dominion Executive of the New Zealand Educational Institute at the annual meeting in Auckland, returned from the north yesterday. The Travel Club will hold an evening meeting to-morrow, when a programme of travel films, arranged by Mr S. J. Lavelle will be shown. The hostesses will be Mrs W. H. Tucker and Mrs R. W. Hardie. ' A meeting of members of the Dunedin Free Kindergarten Association, convened by Mrs Dora Smeaton, was held last Friday, when arrangements were discussed for the holding of a ball on June 12 in aid of the association's funds. The programme will include ballets. • Mr and Mrs G. L. Stewart, of Wellington, have arrived in Christchurch to attend the wedding of their daughter. Miss Mary Stewart, to Mr R. M. Algie, M.P. Mr M. H. Oram, M.P. and Mrs Oram, of Palmerston North, are also visiting Christchurch for the wedding, which will take place quietly to-morrow. At the twenty-fifth jubilee dance of the Kiwi Amateur Swimming Club, held in the Caledonian Club last Tuesday night, the opportunity was taken to make a presentation of a striking clock to Mr and Mrs L. Griffiths on the occasion of their recent marriage. Mrs Griffiths, who was formerly Miss Agnes Brown, was ladies' captain of the Kiwi Club for a number of years and still is one of its leading coaches. The presentation was made by the president of the club, Mr E. C. Isaacs, who referred to Mrs Griffiths’s fine record as a swimmer and coach, and his remarks were endorsed by the president of the Otago Swimming Centre, Mr D. F. Watson.
