RUGBY IN AUSTRALIA
WIN FOR NEW SOUTH WALES SYDNEY, May 25. Three fine tries, which gave New South Wales a long lead over Queensland in the first half of the Rugby Union match at Sydney Show Ground, enabled the home side to win comfortably by 25 to 11. In all, New South Wales scored seven tries, including three by the brilliant winger. Eastes. to Queensland’s two. The match was a triumph for the selectors and coaches, Messrs A. C. Wallace and S. J. Malcolm, both members of the famous Waratah side. Most of the tries were the result of co-oro-inated, well-timed movements rather than speculation. Cremin, Walker, Tonkin 'and Piper showed to advantage, but late in the game Tonkin severely injured his jaw. Among the forwards, Cornforth (New South Wales) and W. McLean (Queensland) were outstanding. The New South Wales forwards went particularly well in the loose, but will need to tighten up considerably to hold the All Black vanguard.
