the safety of all other possible roadusers. It is rare to see a motorist give the correct signal when drawing away from a kerbside. It is also all too common 'for drivers to approach pedestrian crossings at speeds - which must daunt all but the boldest pedestrians. This offence should be more seriously regarded, for it is nothing less than a proof of criminal selfishness. The rising toll of the road cannot be ignored. If motorists themselves do not show a full appreciation of their responsibilities, the authorities must be prompt to punish even minor lapses, and to punish severely.
