POWER BOARD
. MONTHLY MEETING Mr A. R. Tait was in the chair at the rrionthly meeting of the Waitaki Electricpower Board .yesterday morning, and there were also present Messrs N. H. Colquhoun, H. P. Kent, G. O. Pringle, D. E. Neave, James Newlands, A. B. Lang, J. Gerrie, and R. B. Meek. The North Otago Sports- Bodies' Association was granted a donation of £25. The Electric-power Boards’ Association advised that its annual meeting would be held at Auckland from September 22 to 26. Messrs Tait, Davidson and Jones were appointed a committee to draw up remits, and were also) appointed the board’s delegates to the conference. It was decided to nominate Messrs R. T. McMillan (Springs-EResmere Board), and J. B. Kent (Grey .Board) as the South Island representatives for the executive of the Electric-power Boards’ Association. The .Enfield War Memorial Committee forwarded a letter asking if it was possible to move the power wires from over the memorial trees near the Enfield Station.—lt was agreed to notify the committee that when the board was making a renewal of the power poles that it would place them nearer the fence, and also replace the existing poles by higher poles. The Kurow Volunteer Fire Brigade's application for permission to erect a shed to house fire-fighting equipment on the board’s property at Kurow was approved, subject to the site being confirmed by Messrs Neave and Davidson. Secretary’s Report
The secretary, Mr C. F. Jones, reported that the sales of electricity during April amounted to £3920, compared with £3458 for April, 1946, an increase of £462. Trading results amounted to £1784, in increase of £414 on April, 1946. The total charged to hire-purchase accounts was £371, and the balance outstanding on these accounts at April 30 was £2356. The Power Fund Account showed a surplus of £1769 2s 2d, and the Loan Accounts a deficit of £371 16s 3d to be met by 1 further loan advance. Engineer’s Report
The engineer, Mr N. A. Davidson, reported that, to date 1346 concrete poles had been made. Eighteen line faults had been dealt with, one only being of any importance. The position had greatly improved in connection with the supply of electric ranges, and adequate stocks were now available. The additional connected load added for the month was 270.335 k.w., compared with 95,450 k.w. for April, 1946. The summary of power running was as follows, with figures for April, 1946, in parentheses: received from the State Hydro Electric Department 2,194,740 units (1,997,520); generated with water-set 2781 (2393); generated with Diesel engine 1465 (1091); total 2,198,986 (2,001,000). The system peak for the month was 5203 k.v.a. compared with 4455 k.v.a. for April, 1946. The peak load for the current quarter was 4889 k.v.a., compared with 4807 k.v.a: for the corresponding quarter last, year.
