PORT CHALMERS NEWS

FOOTBALL CLUB . The annual meeting of the Port Chalmers Rugby Football Club was held in the club’s pavilion. The president, Mr C. G. Lewis, was in the chair, and there was a large attendance. In moving the adoption of the annual report and balance sheet, the chairman congratulated the members on their performances during the previous season, and thanked all coaches, selectors, and supporters for their assistance as well as those who had assisted with the erection of a new room in the pavilion. The report was adopted. On the motion of Mr R. S. Jack it was agreed to revoke the 'rules governing the activities of the club and to institute a new set of rules, a copy of which will be handed to each member. It was decided to hold the first practice to-night, and that the official opening would be held on Saturday, April 12. The election of officers resulted as follows:—President, Mr H Glengarry: 'l3 vice-presidents were elected; club captain, Mr J. A. Chapman; delegates to the Otago Rugby Football Union—Messrs H. Glengarry, C G. Lewis, and R. S. Jack; delegate to the Junior Advisory Committee, Mr C. G. Lewis; general committee—Messrs E. Cameron, G James, J. Smith, A. O'Neill, W. Sutherland, and B. Braithwaitc; secretary and treasurer, Mr L. Cramond; auditor, Mr R. S. Jack; social committee —Messrs P. Larkins, C. G. Lewis, E. Cameron, J Peck, and W. Coard WATER SUPPLY The Town Clerk, Mr C. Blackman, states tjiat the continued dry weather has caused a drop of several feet below the norma] level in the reservoir, and although the position is not yet serious, it has become necessary to impose restrictions on the use of water. Consumers are asked not to use garden hoses, and to confine their, use of water to domestic purposes only. ROWING CLUB CARNIVAL A carnival in aid of the funds of the Queen’s Drive Rowing Club was opened on Wednesday by the Mayor, Mr H. S. Watson, and attracted a fair attendance. A mock court, presided over by Messrs A. C. Holman and J. M Fraser, was the feature of Wednesday night’s entertainment. The carnival will conclude on Saturday night.
