French Glider was cantered round and was schooled again over the sod wall and double. Both horses shaped well. Wingatui Track Work • The course proper at Wingatui was open yesterday morning with the trestles about the middle of the track, where the going was on the hard side. A good deal of work also took place on the sand track. A. E. Didham worked his team about 6 a.m., but there was a long interval before others put in an appearance. Didham’s team worked included Night Fighter, Siegform, John Gay, Foxchase, and Money Bird. Later in the morning a number of horses were worked but did not accomplish anything sensational. The hard state of the going is making trainers rather chary about sending their horses against the watch. Winners Bred in Oamaru The White City, as Oamaru was once generally known, has not only supplied some good race meetings, but has also bred some really good winners, particularly when Stepniak stood at the Elderslie Stud. Winners of the New ; Zealand Cup bred at Elderslie include L Grand Rapids and Sunart. In addition I to the winners that came from the North • Otago district credit must also be given to mares originally hailing from there who afterwards bred on very well.
