Date Fixed for Trolley Bus Poll

Subject to the formal approval of the City Council, Wednesday, February 26, has been fixed as the date on which the poll of ratepayers is to he conducted on the council’s Transport and Streets Reconstruction Loan of £858,000. The loan combines three loans put forward by the City Council as follows:—A loan of £700.000 for the purchase and installation of trolley buses; a loan of £72,000 for the reconstruction of streets on trolley bus routes, and the paving of tramway track areas; and a loan of £86,000 for the purpose of reconstructing and extending Albert street, which will ultimately he a new highway to Kaikorai Valley.
