NO ALTERATION LIKELY MEETING OF DUNEDIN UNION A decision to continue to observe th& 40-hour week in accordance with the lead given by the National Executive, was made at a special meeting of -the Dunedin Waterside Workers’ Union, lasting four hours, which was held yesterday morning. The secretary of the union, Mr S. B. Macdonald, told the Otago Daily Times in the afternoon that the men had resumed work at 1 o’clock and would stop at 5 p.m. until 8 o’clock this morning. An assurance had been
given by the employers, he said, that there would be no alteration in conditions or rates of pay. Concerning the appeal by the Federation of Labour to handle the dispute, Mr Macdonald said that strong opposition to this course had been expressed at the meeting, and the members of the union would handle it themselves.
