ENGLISH RUGBY TRIALS M. P. DONNELLY IN FORM (Rec. 10 p.m.) LONDON, Jan. 4. The New Zealander, M. P. Donnelly, inside-back, and the Australian, B. H. Travers, a forward, both played at Twickenham in the England against The Rest Rugby Union trial. Both have remained in the trial games in the series of matches preceding the coming winter programme of international matches, and both have maintained their reputations. Donnelly has not had the advantages of the strength

of the combination developed in the Oxford University team with the halfback Newton-Thompson, who has been in South Africa during the trials. Travers is marked as an outstanding forward. The Rugby Union’s Committee, which met in London, announced that it had received acceptances from the New Zealand, New South Wales, and South African Unions to attend a conference in England in October.
