BOWLING TOURNAMENT The New Year bowling tournament at Clyde was most successful, being played in excellent weather on a first-class green. Twenty-four rinks took part, one section being played at Alexandra. Straight-out winners were found in three sections, J. Storey (Cromwell) and W. Hewitt (Alexandra) winning at Clyde and W. King at Alexandra. Hewitt beat Storey the and King had a narrow victory ‘of one point over Hewitt in the final. The following were the results:— Section A.—J. Storey (Cromwell) 4 wins, no losses; J. L. Davidson (Clyde) 2 wins, 2 losses; R. Liddell (Mornington) 2 wins, 2 losses; S. Rivers (Alexandra) 2 wins, 2 losses; R. McLean (Otago) 2 wins, 2 losses; W. N. Taylor (Clyde) 2 wins, 2 losses; L. Henderson (Bannockburn) 1 win, 3 losses; S. Hutchison (Caledonian) 1 win, 3 losses. Section B.—W. Hewitt (Alexandra) 4 wins, no losses; R. N. Paulin (Clyde) 3 wins, 1 loss; McNeill (Kaitangata) 3 wins, 1 loss; E. Lawrence (St. Clair) 2 wins, 2 losses; H. Naylor (Dunedin) 2 wins, 2 losses: A. Campbell (Bannockburn) 1 win, 3 losses: T. Stevens (Clyde) 1 win, 3 losses: R. Scrymgeour (St. Clair) 4 losses. Section C (Alexandra Green).—W. King (Alexandra) 4 wins, no losses; J. Middlemass 3 wins, 1 loss; J. French (W. Harbour) 2 wins, 2 losses: W. H. Hinton (Alexandra) 2 wins, 2 losses- P. Miller (Alexandra) 2 wins, 2 losses; I. Campbell (Cromwell) 1 win, 3 losses; C. Drake (Omakau) 2 wins, 2 losses; R. Lawrie (Cromwell) 4 losses. Semi-final: Hewitt 17, Storey 5; King a bye. Final: H. Kemp, V. Gault, W. J. Russell, W. H. King 16, D. Blyth, A. Moore, C Robertson, W. Hewitt 15.
