THE TASKS AHEAD
FUTURE OF Y.W.C.A. In a preface to the annual report of the Y.W.C.A.. the president, Mrs R. W S Botting, says: "We began this year with the realisation of our responsibilities in the post-war world and with a firm resolve to fulfil the obligations of our purpose. This year has been one of consolidation and adjustment rather than one of extension. Now, with strengthened activities and a trained staff we feel better able to go forward to meet the many tasks which lie before us and to offer work which will be more beneficial to the youth of Dunedin and of greater service to the whole community. " There are many things to be reckoned with in our social, educational and economic life. Increased leisure time brings problems as well as advantages. Our greatest task is that of helping young people to form a true sense of values and to inculcate into them a sense of awareness of the world in which they live, so that they may go forward with courage and eagerness, and the ability to use wisely the powers and opportunities which are theirs.
