MAYFAIR THEATRE
” Greenwich Village," a romantic, tuneful and gay comedy, is the principal vehicle of entertainment in the new programme released at the Mayfair Theatre yesterday. At the head of a talented cast are Carmen Miranda, Don Ameche, William Bendix and Vivian Blaine, “ The Cherry Blonde.” The film, which is in technicolor, is filled with thrills, and reaches a high level of hilarious entertainment. Blackmail, with a jade necklace as the price of silence, forms the theme of the associate film, the new mystery thriller, ” Murder, My Sweet,” starring Dick Powell. Claire Trevor and Anne Shirley. Dick Powell's role is that of a private detective to whom falls the task of solving the deaths arising out of the blackmail plot. Claire Trevor, young and beautiful wife of an elderly and wealthy collector of jade, is the victim of the blackmailer, and Anne Shirley is the daughter of the rich man by his first marriage. They add Up to a romantic triangle with Powell.
