OBITUARY

MR G. A. LAURENSON Mr Gifford Alexander Laurenson, who died yesterday afternoon, was born in Dunedin and was educated at the Kaikorai School and Waitaki High School. -On leaving school Mr Laurenson became associated with his father’s bakery business at Roslyn, and on his father’s death he took over the business. Mr Laurenson had been president of the Otago Master Bakers’ Association for various periods, and occupied that position at the time of his death. He was also for a period

president of the New Zealand A'laster Bakers’ Association. He was a member of the Chamber of Commerce and occupied a seat on the executive at the time of his death. He was a prominent Rotarian and had been for many years an office-bearer of Knox Church. His interest in sport was confined mainly to bowls, and he was a member of the Roslyn Bowling Club. He occasionally played golf with the Otago Golf Club. Mr Laurenson was a justice of the peace and was also a director of the Y.M.C.A. He is survived by a young son and two daughters. His wife predeceased him three years ago.
