BOARDED THE MAURETANIA
EVENTS FOLLOWING PARTY CHARGE AGAINST SOLDIER (P.A.) WELLINGTON, Sept. 4. A soldier on whose behalf it was said that he went to a party and woke up at sea on board the Mauretania, which recently brought prisoners of war back to New Zealand, was found guilty by a district court martial at Trentham of absence without leave. He was Private Ronald Leslie Collins'. It was said for Collins that he had only a hazy recollection of events after entering the wharf gates following a party. At Sydney he reported to a naval lieutenant on board, and was placed under arrest. He was sentenced to 14 days’ detention.
