THE RATIONING OF BUTTER
Sir,—According to the law, grocers are not allowed to cut butter into Jibs, although some are d<!ing it. I want to know what is to be the rule for this new rate of rationing which begins next Monday, June 11. An inquiry from the Ration Office elicited the answer “ Please yourself,” so is the grocer liable for a fine if he cuts butter to comply wtih this new
Jib rate?—l am, etc., Grocer. [ln accordance with the Weights and Measures Act butter may be cut into halfpounds, a half-pound being one of the legal weights.—Ed., O.D.T.]
