Mr McMillan stated that the R.S.A. He added that such a building would provide additional amenities, not only for returned servicemen, but also for residents of Palmerston and outlying districts. Nothing definite by way of preparing plans or selecting a site had been carried out, as the R.S.A. desired to know to what extent the local < authorities in the district would support this or similar proposals. Messrs Park and Nimmo also stressed the desirability of a suitable memorial- The Mayor and individual councillors, expressed thenviews upon the suggested proposals, which they unanimously supported. The Mayor informed the deputation that the council had already commenced to make inquiries as to the purchase of certain areas of land near the Town Hall for memorial purposes. The Mavor, Cr Rasmussen, Cr Jones and the town clerk were appointed to confer with the R.S.A. when the proposals for a war memorial were being com pletcd. Mr McMillan thanked the council.
