ARRIVAL IN THE LEBANON (Rec. 7 p.m.) LONDON, May 18. French soldiers have arrived at Beirut aboard the cruiser Jeanne d’Arc, reports Reuter’s Beirut correspondent. „ , The Lebanese Premier, Karameh, yesterday told the Chamber that the Government had been informed unofficially of the landing of French troops. He reaffirmed the Government’s readiness to oppose any attempt against the country’s sovereignty, and expressed the belief that the other Arab States would, if necessary, help the Lebanon to preserve its liberty.
