Candidates are required to possess adequate natural teeth and are not accepted if wearing dentures. SICK BERTH ATTENDANTS.—Age limits 18-22 years on date of entry. Preferably some prior knowledge of First Aid, Nursing, or Dispensing. WRITERS.—Age limits 18-23 years on date of entry. Preferably with secondary education and some knowledge of clerical work. Knowledge of shorthand and typewriting is an asset. STORES ASSISTANT.—Age limits 18-23 years on date of entry. Preferably with secondary education and some knowledge of clerical work. COOKS.—Age limits 18-23 years on date of entry. A preliminary knowledge of cooking or baking is desirable. ENGINEROOM ARTIFICERS. Age limits 192-28 years on date of entry. Must have completed a full 5 years’ apprenticeship as Fitter, Fitter and Turner, Coppersmith, Boilermaker, or Engine Smith. ELECTRICAL ARTIFICERS, ORDNANCE ARTIFICERS.—Age limits 193-28 years on date of entry. Must have completed a full 5 years’ apprenticeship as Fitter and Turner, or Instrument Maker. JOINERS, BLACKSMITHS.— Age limits 19-28 years on date of entry. Must have completed a full 5 years’ apprenticeship at their trade. SHORT SERVICE. Vacancies also exist for entry as Short Service Seamen and Telegraphists. Entry is as Ordinary Seaman and Ordinary Telegraphist respectively. Age limits 171 to 23 years, on date of entry. Service is for Six Years in the Royal New Zealand Navy and Six Years in the Reserve, with an option of re-engaging for a further term if recommended.
