HEADSMAN’S AXE

CAPITAL PUNISHMENT IN GERMANY

LONDON, May 18. Beheading with the axe for capital offences is being resumed in Germany as soon as the civil prisons provide suitable blocks, declared an official spokesman with the army of occupation in Northern Germany. The beheading will be performed by German executioners carrying out the sentences of Allied courts. In the meantime, execution by firing squads will remain in force.
