RUGBY UNION DISPENSATION

REINSTATEMENT OF LEAGUE PLAYERS

(Rec. 7 p.m.) SYDNEY, May 19. Both the New Zealand and Australian Rugby Unions are keen to secure a dispensation for servicemen who may desire to play Rugby Union after the war. The two bodies are likely to approach the English Rugby Union on the question of uniformity to be obtained. The acting secretary of the New South Wales Rugby Union (Mr C. Kennedy) has received a cablegram from the secretary of the New Zealand Rugby Union (Mi- A. E. Neilson) stating that New Zealand proposed to grant a dispensation to League players in the services, and asking that Australia should ioin in the representations to the English Rugby Union. The request will be dealt with by the Australian Rugby Union.
