BATTERED DRESDEN

COMPLETELY SHATTERED OVER HALF A MILLION HOMELESS (Rec. 10.30 p.m.) LONDON, Mar. 26. As the result of the R.A.F.’s terrible battering. Dresden is more completely shattered than Stalingrad. This was reported by a Danish school teacher who arrived in Sweden from Berlin, says Reuter’s Stockholm correspondent. The authorities in Dresden were forced to wall in thousands of corpses, lying in the ruins because there was’ insufficient labour to bury them. The stench from these artificial graves could be smelt far away, and there was real danger of a plague breaking out in the city. The teacher estimated that the homeless in Dresden number between 400,000 and 600,000.
