AIR TRANSPORT

CONFERENCE IN SOUTH AFRICA

REGIONAL SERVICES PLANNED (Bee. 8.45 p.m.) CAPE TOWN, Mar. 25. “The discussions achieved a protype of practical co-operation which will be an encouragement far beyond our own borders,” said Lord Swinton in a statement at the conclusion of the Southern African Air Transport conference.

Mr F. C. Sturrock, Minister of Transport, said the conference had ensured that the immediate post-war transport needs of each member State would be met.

The conference, during the final session; adopted a resolution recognising that participation in regional services by foreign Governments was desirable. The conference recommended that the planning of regional services should afford scope for the co-operation of foreign Governments, either within the general operational scheme, or on a basis of bilateral agreements confined to particular routes and services.
