“IMPORTERS AND SARDINES”
Sir, —I desire to refer to a letter that appeared in your issue of yesterday undei the above heading. The writer strongly criticises the alleged action of the Im porters' Association,” relative to its urging the importation of sardines into the Dominion oblivious of the fact that the stricken people of Britain are: a hundred times more in need of them than are the people of the Dominion. While I quite concur in the last contention, I desire, as secretary of the Otago Importers’ and Shippers’ Association, tc state emphatically that my association has taken no action whatever m regard to the import of sardines. Therefore the writer has quite unjustly mentioned the Importers’ Association in this connection; —I am, etc.. E. Wood, Dunedin. March 23. Secretary.
