ANGLING

Since the recent heavy flooding of the Kakanui River many good fish have been secured. It is reported that sea-run fish are now in the river, and one angler at the mouth secured a fish of 71b. An angler in the vicinity of Mahenq last week-end secured seven fish weighing 81b whilst another secured five of a total weight of 71b, The Kakanui is now low and clear. , , , Reports from the Waitaki River do not appear to be encouraging for Easter fishing. Although there is a moderate volume of water in this river, it is very cloudy. Reports indicate that this river is well stocked with fish, but owing to the discoloured state of the water it is not possible to meet with much success.
