TEACHERS' SALARIES
TAX ON INCREASES (P.A.) WELLINGTON, Mar. 23. The secretary of the New Zealand Educational Institute has been advised that teachers’ back pay in the way of increases prior to March 31 will be assessed for income tax as income earned during the year ended March 31, 1945, irrespective of when it is paid.
It was stated yesterday that the back pay for teachers in the local district would be available at the end of this month.
